What is a sewerage system?

The function of a wastewater sewer is to collect sewage, such as wastewater from toilets, bathrooms, kitchens or floor washing, and foul water from housing units, factories or restaurants. The sewage will then be carried to a wastewater treatment plant by enclosed pipes for purification and disinfection before being discharged. The sewers and their relative facilities for collecting and treating wastewater are called sewerage system.
